Imago

(1964)

With his first film still on the shelf and with his second banned, the studio (Ergas and Zebra?) canceled the next project, Imago, for which Brass had already completed the script. Perhaps this is what four years later became NEROSUBIANCO????? But then, maybe not, because Giancarlo Fusco wrote that Brass’s proposed title for NEROSUBIANCO, from the very first, was indeed NEROSUBIANCO. Anyway, for the longest time I couldn’t find “imago” in the dictionary. I quizzed some friends in Italy, but they were unfamiliar with the word. Finally I found a gigantic Italian dictionary that explained that “imago” is a poetic form of the word “immagine,” which means “image.” So there.
