Lulù

(1991)

After completing Paprika Brass cast Debora Caprioglio as Lulù in Frank Wedekind’s Lulu: A Monster Tragedy. Wedekind was unable to publish or perform this play in his lifetime, and so instead toned it down and turned it into two other plays: Erdgeist (Earth Spirit, 1895) and Die Büchse der Pandora (Pandora’s Box, 1904). Brass’s production ran for seven months, apparently because Caprioglio played the rôle in the nude. I have no other details at all on the whens, wheres, or hows of this production.
